The Women’s Adventure Academy is a life changing programme that will give you the skills and confidence to get out into nature, explore remote places at your own pace and wild camp. It runs over three weekends and you will need to be available for them all to complete the course.
On each weekend you arrive at 6pm on the Friday and leave at 1pm on the Sunday.
2026 Course Dates:
Weekend 1 - April 17-19
Weekend 2 - May 22-24
Weekend 3 - July 3-5
What is the Women’s Adventure Academy?
Building Confidence
The course is taught in a safe, supportive and fun environment so that everyone is happy to get stuck in, make mistakes and be themselves :) We start the course gently and each weekend will progressively more challenging. You’ll be building solid skills and confidence until on the last weekend you feel happy to have a solo camp out.
Learning Skills
You’ll build up your skills and confidence slowly over each weekend. This is what we will cover:
Planning and preparation | Camp craft | Navigation | Packing | Equipment | Safety | Food
By the end you’ll have the freedom to explore the hills, tracks and wild places you’ve been longing for! You’ll be tonnes more confident and be able to keep yourself safe and comfortable in the elements.
Before each weekend we’ll have a group zoom call get to know each other, ask questions, discuss kit requirements and prepare for the adventure ahead. By the end of the program you’ll have a lovely community to share with and this alone has made a huge difference to women being able to step out into the outdoors with greater confidence.
I’ll also be there for support if you need to chat through anything for a specific trek or journey you want to do.
Creating Community
Meet Clare
Wow where do I start… I live in Kendal and have been teaching and facilitating in the mountains and valleys of the Lake District as a Mountain Leader for over 20 years. I’m passionate about slow adventures where I can enjoy the beauty of the place and connect with the natural world. I love sharing this all with other humans and my two furry companions too - my dog Moose and pony Merry.
